Build your career as a professional visual artist in the creative and supportive community of the Arts Academy in Ballarat. You will develop skills in painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and installation, printmaking, and media technologies. You will also gain skills in virtual and physical exhibition planning and management through our online and campus galleries.

"FedUni offered me a way to learn and to go places in the future. I like being part of uni life and learning from the best, to be an art student. I'm working on Aboriginal art projects and have been offered lots of other experiences. When I was young I remember my people coming out to the university for cultural events. Now I'm here walking in their foot-steps in a new FedUni way."

Our Post Office Gallery in Ballarat and Switchback Gallery in Gippsland showcase works of art from students and staff, as well as leading and emerging Australian artists.

"After being out of the education system since high school, joining FedUni has been a very welcoming experience and it has reassured me that it’s okay to return to study after raising a family and being in the workforce for 30 years. I love the environment on campus, the friendly staff and the great student support. The course is informative, interesting, challenging and fun.

Being provided with instructions on what topics to paint has strengthened my abilities and is making a vast improvement on my work. When I graduate, my goal is to pursue further study and to work as a professional artist, and possibly to continue into teaching and education. I hope to eventually be a part of the arts community."
