Electricians are paid higher than average weekly full time wages and a high number of job openings are expected over the next five years, according to the Department of Employment.Study this certificate while you complete your apprenticeship and you can apply for an A Grade Electrical Licence through an approved Energy Safe Victoria examination process. You'll learn the broad range of electrical skills including installing and maintaining electrical components, wiring, equipment and systems.

The program provides competencies to select, install, test, fault find, repair, maintain and commission electrical installations, appliances and equipment. It includes Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) requirements for an ‘A Grade” Electrical licence’

Applicants must be currently employed as an apprentice electrician.

For all TAFE applications, pre-training review questions and a literacy and numeracy review are part of the application process.

Applicants need to demonstrate the literacy and numeracy skills required to undertake this course through a test as part of the application process. The test will be conducted through Federation College prior to commencement of training. Feedback will be provided to the applicant on their results and types of support, if necessary, available to them.

Other study costs

Students are to supply their own PPE: Work boots as per AS/NZ 2210.3, class 1 work boots comprising of safety toe and a sole that is resistant to most oils, acids and chemicals, long trousers.
Electrical black book (Aust/NZ 2nd edition).
