This qualification reflects the role of building professionals who apply knowledge of structural principles, codes and standards, risk analysis, financial management, estimating, preparing and administering building and construction contracts, selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality and managing construction work in building projects including residential and commercial. Students who complete the Diploma can apply to become a registered builder with the VBA in various categories including Domestic Builder Unlimited – DBU or undertake roles as project manager, construction manager or control domectic or commercial projects
This qualification will help you to meet the licencing/registration requirements to become a registered builder.
The course content below provides all possible units related to the course. If the course has various streams, the units you are required to study will depend on your chosen stream.

Although there are no entry requirements specified in the Training Package it is recommended that for this program at FedUni TAFE that applicants have 8 years’ including 4 years as an apprentice, experience working in the Building and Construction industry eg trades person, supervisor, foreman, project administrator.
The amount, scope and relevance of each applicants building and construction industry work experience will be determined at the pre-training review.

Applicants need to demonstrate the literacy and numeracy skills required to undertake this course through a test as part of the application process. The test will be conducted through Federation College prior to commencement of training. Feedback will be provided to the applicant on their results and types of support, if necessary, available to them.
