The Graduate Certificate in Paramedicine (Re - entry) is designed to allow applicants who have previously completed an entry to practice program in Paramedicine to apply for registration without having to complete the full qualification again. 

Also designed for paramedics who have had time away from the profession and no longer have recency of practice.  These are typically staff who have left the industry due to parental responsibilities or for other reasons. also, there is a group of potential applicants that have completed double degrees in Nursing/Paramedicine however have commenced their Nursing career and would like to explore a career in Paramedicine at a later date.
 
You will be completing the program part-time (2 courses per semester) and mainly study online with on campus block mode practical classes. 

Graduates will have received a clinical refresher on all key areas of Paramedicine and will be able to use this qualification (along with their previous Paramedicine qualification) to apply for registration as a Paramedic with AHPRA.

Delivery: On campus and Flexible.

The program includes a minimum of four shifts of work integrated learning with an emergency ambulance service.

Entry requirements (year 12)

This category of applicants is not eligible to apply for this course.

Entry requirements (non year 12)

Completion of an entry-to-practice paramedicine qualification - such as a Bachelor of Paramedicine or equivalent; and/or

Prior experience as a Qualified Advance Life Support Paramedic (with prior Authority to Practice)

Extra requirements

It is a requirement of the program that students undertake clinical placements with Ambulance Victoria. It is a requirement of AV that all students must be both medically and physically fit for placement on their operational vehicles. Applicants are advised that comprehensive assessments by AV's approved health provider and a police record check must be undertaken prior to commencement of study, details of which will be sent out prior to commencement.

2024 Indicative Fees

Fee Type: Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP)

$4,474 student contribution amount

A Commonwealth Supported Place is subsidised by the Australian Government.  Your fees (student contribution amount) are set on an annual basis by the government and are determined by the discipline area and band of your individual units, not the overall course.  Each unit falls into a band which determines the student contribution.

2024 annual student contribution amounts for 1 EFTSL (equivalent full-time student load) range between $4,445 Band 1 to $16,323 Band 4.  To find the Band, EFTSL and contribution amount for each unit, check the Sample Structure or refer to the 2024 unit listing.

Fees are adjusted on an annual basis and the indicative amount should be used as a guide only.  It is based on a typical enrolment for a student undertaking the first year of study in this course.  For 0.5 EFTSL (60 credit point) courses the certificate fee is displayed.  Total cost will vary depending on the units you choose, your study load, the time it takes to complete your course and any approved credit you receive.

You will also need to pay the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).

Fee assistance

You may be eligible for a HECS-HELP loan, which can be used to defer payment of all or part of your student contribution.  You may also be eligible to defer payment of your SSAF through a SA-HELP loan.

Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Paramedicine (Re-entry) may be eligible to apply for the Graduate Diploma of Paramedicine or Master of Health programs.
