This Masters by Research course sees candidates working with a Principal Supervisor, appointed by the Research Higher Degrees Sub Committee, with the approval of the School.
A minimum of 1.5 years and a maximum of 2 years (full-time equivalent), this degree is awarded on the basis of:
Career opportunities are available within the Visual and Performing Arts Industries as professionals in the chosen field of expertise. Additionally, work may be found in related fields such as public and commercial gallery curating, teaching, arts administration and theatres.
HDR candidates are expected to commit at least 38 hours per week for full time or 19 hours per week for part-time, of study and research, on average over the life of their degree.
To qualify for admission as a candidate to a Higher Degree by Research course, applicants must:
Academic IELTS of 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0; or equivalent
In addition to submission of the Masters by Research Application Form, visual artists should include ten slides of recent artwork. Performing artists should seek advice from the Arts Academy on any additional requirements.
Following receipt of the completed application form and associated documentation, the applicant may be invited to meet with the Research Coordinator (and staff from the appropriate discipline) to elaborate the proposal and provide each with an opportunity to ask questions and provide additional information.

$22,680 tuition fee
If you're offered a Full Fee-Paying place, your fees are not subsidised by the Australian Government, and you contribute the full cost of your course. Tuition fees are based on the course annual fee for 1 EFTSL (120 credit points). For 0.5 EFTSL (60 credit point) courses, the certificate fee is displayed.
Fees are adjusted on an annual basis and the indicative amount should be used as a guide only. It is based on a typical enrolment for a student undertaking the first year of study in this course. Total cost will vary depending on your study load, the time it takes to complete your course and any approved credit you receive.
You will also need to pay the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
Domestic students undertaking a higher degree by research may be eligible to receive a Research Training Program (RTP) funded place.
