Many students wish to complete the Master of Education Studies through a research pathway that enables them to apply for entry into a doctoral programme. This research pathway includes four compulsory units; EDMED 7037 Ways of Researching, EDMED 7038 Analysis and Inquiry Reading and Framing the Research, EDMED 7121 Minor thesis (Part A) and EDMED 7122 Minor thesis (Part B) whereby students research and write their thesis under supervision. EDMED 7121 is the first of the units in which students prepare their minor thesis for the programme. Students draw on the insights developed in EDMED 7037 and 7038 to carry out a research project. Students work under the direction of a supervisor. Most commonly in this, the first of the two thesis courses, students complete a research proposal and an ethics application when necessary, and enter the field to collect their data.

A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a student contribution band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).
