Human Development and Nutrition across the Lifespan (HEALT2007)

This course enables students to develop understanding of human development and nutrition across the lifespan. The course explores the characteristics and the impact of the stages of growth and development and explores and the health determinants and health issues that are associated with each life stage. It examines and the role of physical, chemical, social, emotional and mental factors on an individual¿s health and hence their growth and development. It analyses the role of government and non-government agencies in improving the health of individuals. There is a strong emphasis on nutrition and the role it has in growth and development, along with the understanding of digestion and absorption of nutrients into the body. It explores the relationship between nutrition, lifestyle choices, exercise and the burden of disease. The course also focuses on National Health Priority Areas and the impact these have on an individual and the community¿s health.

Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
