Music Theatre Music Skills 1 (MTSKI1102)

This course develops theoretical knowledge and skills from semester one. Students will improve and implement rhythm, pitch and harmony skills with the goal of improving performance skills and understanding of musical theatre repertoire. Students will be expected to demonstrate their theoretical understanding through in-class tasks involving performance, analysis and composition. This course revolves around the further development of keyboard, sight-singing, and aural skills as major learning activities that will enable students to develop greater independence in their own musical preparation. Students will be exposed to analysis of the elements of music as they relate to textual and dramatic situations. A disciplined practice regime will be developed to support singing development.
