MUSIC THEATRE STUDIO (PAMTS2001)

This course complements skills training that are a core element of 1st year and 2nd year studies. It seeks to deepen opportunities to integrate these skills through building an approach to music theatre style and form. Under the guidance of an artistic team, students will present repertoire ¿based music theatre material to presentation level. Students will be expected to understand both narrative and non-narrative approaches to dramatic structure and to problem solve on the rehearsal room floor. The challenge of the work will be to find an authentic connection with the material and to create an original interpretation of the piece. In a workshop setting, students will be expected to use the skills of devising and dramaturgical analysis to collaborate as an ensemble, with both casting and performance requirements outside their most comfortable range. All students will be expected to participate in production tasks.
