PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE & RESEARCH (WELRO2105)

Content of this course will be a combination of a lectures on research methodology and the use of evidence based practice, and an exploration of the use of this method in relation to a topic of interest in a specialised field of practice by the student. This topic will be negotiated between the student and the course coordinator. The content will include information on research methods and strategies, ethical practice, planning and management techniques and specific content material related to the topic developed by the student. Students will explore the use of relevant databases such as Medline, the Cochrane Library and the Campbell Collaboration, review the various debates relating to the value of different types of evidence and the implications of the evidence-based paradigm for varied professional groups and practice locations in the health and human services.

Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
