This course will provide participants with practical skills in basic machining on lathes, milling machines and ancillary machines such as pedestal drills and grinders.
Participants are welcolme to bring in a proposal for their own projects and discuss their suitability with the lecturer. Exmaples of suitable projects might include metal craft work, hobby train or aeroplane projects.
Project exceptions will include vehicle components and weapons.
You will be required to wear personal protective clothing at all times in the practical workshop which includes steel capped safety boots, clear safety glasses, coverall style overalls.
This course will provide participants with practical skills in general machining on lathes, milling machines to supplement their existing
Metal Worker or other trade skills.
Participants will be trained in general machining and the use of commercial lathes and milling machines prior to putting their skills to use in the manufacture of their choice of project. Smaller custom projects will be considered by negotiation following course enrolment and conditional on obtaining sufficient foundation skills with machine use.
